Dustin and his team at Apex Transmission and Auto are amazing! I had purchased a 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 around May of 2025, it seemed to run perfectly fine the first few months driving it, then around September/October 2025 I started having really weird issues when going into 3-5 gears, it just made this wonky heavy breathing sound as i called it. I was referred to Dustin (Apex Transmission in Urbana) by another family/friend who had their transmission R&Rd before and immediately upon contacting Dustin we were able to come up with a game plan on how to diagnose what the possible issue could be and what to do from there. I am a single mom of one on a fixed income/paychecks (let’s be honest who can afford to drop thousands on any auto repairs spontaneously these days). Dustin was able to get me in to be serviced quickly, come up with a payment plan AND kept in constant communication regarding the deadline in which my transmission would be repaired. He was extremely professional the entire exchange and made sure I was aware of everything going on in regards to my truck. Fast forward 8ish months from completing the R&R and she’s still running perfectly. Turns out whoever worked the engine swap from a Yukon completely messed up making sure transmission/engine connection was working. Huge huge huge thank you to Dustin and his team for everything they did for my little family to keep me up and running. 🙏🏼 I highly recommend him and his business.

Apex rebuilt a Dodge 62TE transmission for me several weeks ago. I've waited to write a review until after nearly 2,000 miles of hard driving on the vehicle. I have zero complaints about the quality of work or the components used to complete the job. Dustin and his team were great to work with. They kept me in the loop with periodic updates on the status of the job, as I had allowed plenty of extra time for them to fit the rebuild into their busy schedule. The pricing for the type of work performed was well within the parameters of "fair" for the customer (me) and the shop. I highly recommend Apex Transmission and plan to use their services again in the coming months on a different vehicle.

Nothing but great service here at Apex,I had transmission issues with my 68rfe, and after shopping around,Dustin was the best priced with a 3 year warranty. Any questions I had were answered quickly buy him or Ron by phone call or text. Even after I had picked up my truck they contacted me later on to see how i was doing and if i was happy with the work that was done,I will definitely be getting more work done by them in the future!

I brought my car in for an inspection and they showed me a full walk around of my vehicle with detailed photos and a description. I went ahead and did some of the work they recommended like my front and rear brakes!!

My Chevy 1500 transmission was making a funky, don’t even know how I made it, to their shop!!! Dropped it off, they were very up front with pricing, no hidden fees! We had the transmission go out on our 2017 Tahoe, Dustin at Apex was able to get us a reman. within a few days, we installed it and took the Tahoe to Dustin for upgraded programing. Very happy with the service we received, highly recommend Apex Transmission and Auto.

Dustin's work is of the highest caliber. He is fairly priced and an expert at his trade. My 2003 Suburban stuttered back into town from a long trip with a slipping transmission and no reverse. It now drives like a new car. I cannot recommend this shop more highly.

I found Dustin by chance online and after doing a little digging sent a message with some questions about my car. I had it at another facility for some other repairs and to have them look at my transmission. They told me I would need a new one with a ticket of almost 9K. I started to review other options for rebuild. After some correspondence around my personal needs as our suburban is our primary vehicle for our 7 person family. I got a quote that was reasonable for what I needed and perfect for my schedule. I can say the Suburban runs as good if not better than when we purchased it. From the first contact all the way though service and the much apricated follow up call the next day I can say Dustin is the only choice for service. I just wish I was closer than an hour and a half away!

Recently had my transmission rebuilt in my suburban. Fantastic service and turn around as well as customer service. Our family hauler now rides as great as the day we purchased it. Would recommend service to anyone in need!

Dustin and Apex Transmission completed a complete custom build of my 2008 68RFE transmission. This is running better than the truck did new. Prior to Dustin completing the rebuild it had been to 3 different dealerships and 2 other transmission shops. Dustin pulled, rebuilt and installed the transmission. I am very happy with the build and would recommend Dustin and Apex transmission.

Brought my 2017 silverado in after having multiple issues with the torque converter. Dustin put a built one in for me. It is like driving a new truck now. I highly recommend going to him for any transmission issue you may have.

I brought in a Cadillac Escalade 07 because the transmission was making a clanking sound every time I drove. He did a full tune-up and the difference was clear right away—my car shifts and launches much smoother than before. The service was excellent with great communication throughout the process. My long travel pre runner truck 2011 Chevy Silverado was having transmission issues with the stock 6L80e I took it in to Dustin to get a built one. I am highly impressed with his work, professionalism and turn around time. 10/10 would recommend a built and tuned transmission. It changed my entire truck.
